Muga’ means yellowish in Assamese which is native to Assam is known for its extreme durability. Because of its natural yellowish-golden tint with a shimmering, glossy texture is was only sued by royalty in the olden days. It is cultivated in the villages, hand spun and handwoven. 

This Muga silk shawl is handwoven by the women of a Co-operative society from the state of Assam in India. Weaving offers villagers to develop their skills, use natural resources and earn a simple living.
