  • Lakadong Latte is one of our turmeric blends that has been introduced to include a milder version of Lakadong Ker. So, if you prefer milder flavours and if you prefer giving a turmeric drink to your kid then this is the perfect blend.

    What Are the Ingredients in Lakadong Latte?

    This blend is a combination of amazing ingredients that are directly and traditionally sourced from our farmers. It consists of our very own Lakadong turmeric, Cinnamon powder, Black cardamom powder and Black pepper powder.

    Lakadong Turmeric- Lakadong Turmeric is a special variety of turmeric from a place called ‘Lakadong’, in Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya. It is known for its medicinal qualities as the Curcumin content in it is between 7 to 9%, which is one of the highest, as against 2 to 3% in most varieties of turmeric. Curcumin in it is responsible for its bright yellowish-orange colour along with its incredible medicinal properties. This component also determines its valve. So, the higher the curcumin level the higher the value.

    Cinnamon- It is a very versatile spice and is well-known for its uses in sweet and savoury foods. It has a sweet woody fragrance which is used in every Indian household. It has a high content of essential oil known as cinnamaldehyde which contributes to its antimicrobial, antifungal and antiviral properties. Another component, eugenol is responsible for its antiseptic and pain killer effects.

    Black pepper- Known as the king of spice as it is widely loved and extensively used by people all over the world. Black pepper’s signature aroma emanates from the berries of the tropical Piper nigrum vine, one among the thousand species of the Piperaceae family. Black pepper is more than just a kitchen staple but is used medicinally in ancient medicines. It has active component piperine which does all the magic!

    It also supports the gastrointestinal tract and the immune system.

    Note: The blend can form a slimy or sticky texture when it is mixed with a liquid.

    What Are We Doing to Ensure Its Quality?

    Zizira wants to ensure that the price you pay for each of our Lakadong turmeric products is worth it. These are the list of things we follow:

    1. Responsible Sourcing- We term it responsible because we work directly with the farmers who are well aware of the pure ingredients and this is where we emphasize purity and quality.
    2. Free from harmful additives- We ensure that each and every ingredient that we come across are pure and are free from all the harmful additives such as fertilizers and pesticides. The ingredients we have are all sourced from remote places in Meghalaya where they are grown and cultivated traditionally and naturally.
    3. Zero adulteration- In today’s era, most of the spices and products we receive are adulterated in one way or the other. In Zizira we make sure to obtain whole ingredients and we follow in-house processing which involves the following steps:

    Step 1- Freshly harvested ingredients are separated from any kind of foreign matter such as dirt, soil, pebbles, etc.

    Step 2- In the case of Lakadong rhizomes, they are soaked in clean water for ten minutes to loosen the dirt from it. They undergo triple washing and are transferred to a food-grade container to drain off excess water.

    Step 3- The turmeric rhizomes are then sliced using mechanical slicers and are placed on bamboo trays for drying. The other ingredients as well are uniformly laid on the bamboo trays and are kept for drying to remove the unwanted moisture content and pathogens from them.

    Step 4- We use the solar dryer for drying the turmeric. The temperature of the dryer is maintained between 50 degree Celsius to 65 degree Celsius.

    Step 5- The ingredients that are free from moisture and pathogens are fed to mechanized grinders for uniform grinding and are finally passed through sieves for uniformity of powdered particles.

    Step 6- The final step followed in our in-house processing is packing our products in glass bottles along with food-grade oxygen absorbers and silica gel for maintaining the shelf-life of the products.

    what Is the Shelf-life Of Lakadong Latte

    Our Lakadong Latte can last for twelve months if it is properly stored. The powder does not get spoilt, but it will start to lose its potency with time and will not flavour or show its benefits as intended when it exceeds the period of twelve months.

    How to Store Lakadong Latte?

    To keep your Lakadong Latte fresh for a longer duration, store it away from direct sunlight, stoves, ovens, and do not keep it on the top of a refrigerator because the heat emitted from them causes the blend to lose its flavour and strength.

    Why Does Lakadong Latte Form a Slimy/Sticky Texture?

    All our products have minimally processed ingredients. They are processed in-house to maintain their purity and quality. The fibrous nature of these ingredients such as turmeric, cardamom, cinnamon is the reason behind the sticky texture of the blend. Consumption of this slimy/sticky blend is absolutely fine.

    Our Lakadong Latte has a maximum level of curcumin and other active components from the other ingredients. These ingredients also come with maximum health benefits. Some of its health benefits are as follows:

    1. Helps in reducing inflammation- Curcumin in turmeric and cinnamon have natural anti-inflammatory compounds that help the body fight against foreign substances. Without inflammation in the body, bacteria and germs can easily take over the body and lead to chronic diseases.   • Uses

    These are a few recipes that we have created using our very own Lakadong Latte.

    1. Lakadong Latte with coffee: With or without coffee, this could be your preferred latte for your everyday life.


    • 2 cups milk (regular milk, coconut or almond milk)
    • 1 teaspoon Lakadong Latte
    • 1/2 teaspoon ginger (optional- it is good for winter to keep the body warm)
    • 1 teaspoon of honey for a sweet taste
    • 1 heaping teaspoon of coffee


    1. Heat Milk, ginger, and lakadong latte in a pan for a few minutes till it becomes warm
    2. Pour it into a glass and add honey
    3. To make your latte, add 1 tsp of coffee in a mug
    4. Pour the mixture into it
    5. Stir to combine and to form a smooth mixture
    6. Enjoy!

    2. Iced Lakadong Latte: You can have it cold as well during the summer to cool your body and freshen up your mind.


    • 2 cups of milk (regular milk, coconut, or almond milk)
    • 1 teaspoon Lakadong Latte
    • 1/4 teaspoon of honey
    • A few ice cubes


    • Pour milk into a glass
    • Add Lakadong Latte to it
    • Mix well or you can even blend it in a blender
    • Add a few ice cubes
    • Add honey for a little sweetness
    • It is ready to be enjoyed!

    3. Vanilla Lakadong Latte: Lakadong might be bitter to some users, so a mixture of pure vanilla extract would counteract the bitterness from the Lakadong. This is a nice way to enjoy it.


    • 1 cup milk
    • 1 teaspoon to 1 tablespoon honey
    • 1 teaspoon of Lakadong Latte
    • 1/2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract


    • Heat Milk and Lakadong Latte in a pan, stir well till mixture blends together
    • Remove it from the heat before it starts boiling and strain it in a cup
    • Stir the vanilla extract into the mixture
    • Add honey if you prefer some sweetness
    • Enjoy!
