- Cinnamon sticks can be used for enhancing the essence in beverages like tea, coffee, red wine or mulled wine and flavoured water. It can be added to improve food palatability, as it mixes well with other ingredients and creates various layers of flavors.
- You can soak cinnamon bark in rum for a few weeks, to extract its essence. Use this cinnamon essence in small quantities for baking cookies, biscuits, bread and desserts.
- This spice blends well with stews, soups and Asian curries, as it adds a warm flavor and aroma.
- Cinnamon is traditionally used as medicine for its anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant and anti-bacterial properties.
The essence of cinnamon spice is more fresh in stick form than the powdered form. Cinnamon barks have high level of oil, which makes it more compelling to use. You can grind the cinnamon barks in small amounts, just before you need to use it, because the freshness and flavors disappear quickly in powdered form.
