  • Ginger is one of the most loved spices in our kitchen with tremendous health benefits. It is rich in properties like antioxidant, antibacterial, antiviral, anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, and much more.

    Zizira's ginger is grown in the traditional farms of Meghalaya. It has a pale yellow colour with a strong taste and flavour. This ginger is pure and is free from any chemical pesticides. We have partnered with farmers from Ri Bhoi District to bring you this spice that you can use for your daily cooking.

    What Is the Shelf-life of Ginger Powder?

    Ginger can last for twelve months if it is properly stored. The powder does not get spoilt, but it will start to lose its potency with time. It will not flavour or show its benefits as intended when it exceeds the period of twelve months.

  • Ginger is rich in vitamin C and magnesium and gives us many health benefits.

    Here are some of the health benefits of ginger:

    1. May help treat many forms of nausea- It appears to be highly effective against nausea especially morning sickness. It has traditionally been used in alleviating seasickness and may also relieve nausea and vomiting after surgery as well as in patients undergoing chemotherapy. Studies have suggested a dose of 1- 1.5 grams of ginger per day to help prevent various types of nausea.
    2. May help reduce muscle pain and soreness- A group of researchers have found that a daily intake of two grams of ginger reduced muscle pain induced due to exercise. Studies suggested that ginger reduces the production of different chemical substances that promotes join pain. It also contains some chemical substances like salicylates which the body converts to salicylic acid that helps in preventing the nerves from making certain prostaglandins (responsible for controlling process like inflammation) and this further helps in relieving pain and discomfort.
    3. Anti-inflammatory effects- Anti-inflammatory diseases such as arthritis is a common health problem in today’s era. This involves degeneration of joints in the body which leads to various symptoms like stiffness and joint pains. Studies have suggested that gingerol, shogaol and paradol in it affect certain inflammatory processes at a cellular level as they are responsible for anti-inflammatory, anti-ulcer and antioxidant properties and also have a small amount of analgesic activity which helps in reducing pain resulting from an exercise-induced injury.
    4. It may help in lowering blood pressure- High blood pressure is a very common symptom that mostly every individual is suffering from. When it is left untreated, it can lead to damage of the arteries, and other major organs like the heart, brain, kidney as well the eyes. Ginger is one natural ingredient that helps in improving the blood pressure by acting as a vasodilator which means it expands the blood vessels. This further helps in increasing the circulation in the body reducing the overall blood pressure. It also contains an important mineral-potassium which has been found to help lower the blood pressure.

Antibacterial properties- It has been found that ginger has an effective antibacterial property and has great potential in the treatment of many microbial diseases such as Bacillus and E. coli. It also helps to inhibit the growth of pathogens that contribute to inflammation of the gums causing gum bacteria.
    6. Blood-sugar regulator- Diabetes is one of the most common diseases affecting a wide range of people and Type 2 diabetes accounts for about 90% of diabetes diagnoses. The major cause of diabetes is chronic hyperglycemia which means high blood sugar level. If this blood sugar level is regulated, it is less likely to experience chronic hyperglycemia that can lead to diabetes over time. Studies show that ginger reduced the increase of blood sugar level and helps in regulating the mind and body keeping blood sugar levels in check.
    7. Reduces Menstrual Pains- A lot of women would be knowing how menstrual pain can be extremely painful. There are many medications available that are dedicated to this pain, but ginger is one natural ingredient that can provide relief from it. Menstrual cramps in the abdomen and lower back are very common in dysmenorrhea (painful menstruation). The gingerol content in ginger has been traditionally used in alleviating this pain.
